Young couple brings gourmet cookie business to Frisco

Gourmet cookies combined with the busy traffic of Highway 380 made a sweet recipe for Kendall and Perry Sandlin to open Cookie Co. on US 380 in Frisco.

The young couple spent time traveling around the country for work and decided to settle down in Kendall's hometown of Frisco.

"Watching it from just being a pile of dirt a year ago and now standing in our first store-it feels really cool," Kendall Sandlin said.

Cookie Co. was founded by Elise and Matt Thomas in Redlands, California during the height of

the pandemic. Since the company opened in August 2020, they have expanded with additional franchise locations in Utah, Idaho, Washington, Nebraska and Texas. Kendall and Perry Sandlin were introduced to the brand by a friend and explored franchise opportunities within the company.

"We always dreamed of opening our own franchise and a friend recommended that we look at Cookie Co.," said Perry Sandlin. "We were just really happy with the owners and the products when we tried it out, but what mostly drew us to the brand is the fresh ingredients. The cookies that come out of the oven here are all made with real ingredients."

The cookies made in the shop are made without any high fructose corn syrup, and the couple pride themselves on making cookies with natural ingredients. Cookie Co.'s menu rotates each week with three different cookies and its original chocolate chip cookie. They also sell "twisted sodas"' made from Coke products and syrups.

A three-year $140 million road improvement project will relieve congestion and bring even more business to the highway, according to officials. Cookie Co. opened its doors on Jan. 21 in the Urban Heights at Hollyhock development.

"We knew that we wanted to open in this location in Frisco and on [US] 380 because it has plenty of traffic and our store could almost serve as a billboard for itself with all those cars driving by," Kendall Sandlin said.
